Matt Electric has always been committed to providing a full range of energy efficient options for clients. We can provide advice on designs using principles that strive for the highest green star buildings and implement performance measures to improve energy efficiency.

There are a number of Government incentives to reduce your carbon emissions albeit for it be at home or at work. Whether its installing insulation or investing in solar panels - green consumer products, are the big ticket items for improving business and household efficiency.

Going beyond the hype, there are a number of simple changes you can make in your workplace or retail outlet which wont cost the earth. Did you know that in an office or retail outlet, lighting accounts for around 40%, and heating and air conditioning accounts for another 40% of your energy bill? So it makes sense, by changing your lights or implementing day lighting strategies, you are going to save money.
Simple ideas for improving the energy efficiency in your office, building or retail outlet:
• LED lights can reduce your running costs by up to 75%, so we recommend replacing incandescent bulbs with LED lighting;
• Install a timer system to switch all lighting off after hours;
• Install movement sensors or timer switches in areas such as store rooms, meeting rooms and photocopy rooms to reduce light usage;
• Consider the use of photo-electric (PE) sensors to maximise the use of natural lighting and minimise the use of artificial lighting;
• Replace 50W halogen downlights with 20W. This gives a similar lighting effect using only 40% of the energy;
• Use natural ventilation and fans where possible;
• Where air-conditioning is used, close windows and doors to reduce cool air from escaping;
• Switch off heating and cooling after hours; and
• Set air-conditioner systems to a minimum of 24°C.

Matt Electric is proud to be involved with environmentally friendly programs and looks forward to working toward supporting more sustainable development in future projects.
